"Ain El Sokhna," the Arabic words for "hot springs" named after nearby springs that originate in the Galala mountain in the Eastern Desert, is the closest beach resort to Cairo. With year-round good weather, temperatures range between a high of 24 and a low of 9 degrees Celsius in January and a variation of between 38 and 30 degrees in July.

Dome Marina Resort got its name from the "Dome" palm, indigenous to the oasises in the area, which was well known to the ancient Egyptians who buried large numbers of the fruits in the tombs of their pharaohs.
Waters of the Gulf of Suez are home to a rich marine life, with large varieties of corals and tropical fish, not to mention the playful dolphins that are often spotted along the shore.
Nearby attractions include the Kossayyeb Oasis (4.5 km away), lush with vegetation and desert wildlife, and two important historical sites, the worlds oldest inhabited monasteries, St. Anthonys and St. Pauls (45 km away). Built more than 16 centuries ago, hidden deep in the mountains and relying on springs for their water supply, both Coptic monasteries still observe rituals that have hardly changed in hundreds of years.
